How we verify modders
No algorithmic badge. Every profile is reviewed by humans who care about the craft.
A “Verified” badge on WatchModders is not bought — it is earned through evidence. We built this process because social proof alone failed us as collectors. Here is exactly what we check before spotlighting a workshop.
1 · Identity & business legitimacy
Registered business or established sole trader, consistent naming across website and social channels, verifiable contact details, and a physical or operational base — not a faceless reship account.
2 · Bench work & portfolio authenticity
Photos and videos that show real assembly, finishing, or modification — not only stock renders. We look for process shots, tool environments, and coherent build history over time.
3 · Invoices, warranties & fair terms
Clients receive proper documentation. Pricing and lead times are communicated before payment. No bait-and-switch on parts grade or origin.
4 · Parts traceability
Where applicable: supplier transparency, movement authenticity, certificates for critical components. We flag workshops that cannot explain what is inside the case.
5 · Reputation signals
Community feedback, dispute history, and consistency with third-party listings (forums, long-running client relationships). One viral reel is not enough.
Automatic disqualifiers
Drop-shipped “custom” watches with no bench involvement · Stolen or misrepresented imagery · Refusal to invoice · Pattern of unresolved client complaints · Counterfeit branding.
FAQ
What does Verified mean?
We manually reviewed the workshop against the criteria above. It is a trust signal, not a guarantee on every individual watch.
Can verification be revoked?
Yes. Credible reports trigger re-review. Profiles that no longer meet our standards are removed or marked pending.
How do I apply?
Use our workshop application form. Include your website, Instagram, country, and what you specialize in.
I disagree with a listing
Email contact@watchmodders.net with evidence. We investigate every serious report.
